What the Public Policy Meeting is
The Public Policy Meeting is the forum in which the AFRINIC community discusses and reaches consensus on policies governing the distribution and management of IPv4 and IPv6 addresses and Autonomous System Numbers in the AFRINIC service region.
What AFRINIC-38 will discuss
AFRINIC-38 continues the work of AFRINIC-37, held in Nairobi in June 2026. Three proposals discussed at that meeting did not reach consensus and were returned to the working group for further discussion. They are joined by three further draft policy proposals, an experience report on policy implementation, and the selection of a PDWG Chair.
The meeting closes with a session of broader institutional importance: a Board community engagement session.
Who can take part
Participation is open to everyone. You do not need to be an AFRINIC member, and there is no fee. The policy development process is bottom-up and community-driven: anyone can propose a policy, and consensus is determined by the working group.
Such policies could have a direct impact on your organisation, as well as on the development, stability and growth of your country's Internet ecosystem. Participate, share your perspective, and help shape the future of Africa's Internet.
Open to everyone.
Decided by the community.
No membership, no fee
You do not need to be an AFRINIC member to take part, and there is nothing to pay. Anyone can propose a policy and join the discussion.
In the room or online
AFRINIC-38 is a hybrid meeting. Remote participants follow every session, ask questions and join the debate on the same terms as those in Cape Town.
How remote participation worksConsensus, not decree
The Policy Development Working Group determines consensus, not AFRINIC. Your perspective directly shapes the rules that govern the region's Internet number resources.
